Gabeh is an interesting type of Persian carpet. It has extremely simple patterns and all have geometric patterns. Some newer Gabbeh have more details such as birds, and humans in the pattern.
Gabeh was getting very popular in the 80s in Europe and now since the lifting of the embargo, you find them in the US Market also. The majority of Gabbeh has a simple plain format with one or two small animals on their pattern. Its word means “unclipped”. Its distinct style of weaving is especially suitable for modern or contemporary settings. The majority of them were made by tribal people such as Qashqais around Shiraz.
